Android Apple will double in 2012 according to iSuppli

The good news is piling up for the Google platform to multiply the positive indicators. Apple had better watch out!

Android’s success is undeniable. The appetite for Google’s platform combined with a number of increasingly large references gives wings to the sales figures and market share of the OS.

On Wednesday, Eric Schmidt, Google’s boss, had indicated that 200,000 Android devices are activated each day, a figure that has doubled in the space of three months.

Earlier in the week, explained Android accounted for 34% of sales in the U.S. in the second quarter, ranking ahead of all its competitors. Globally, its market share (installed base) would be about 13%.

20% of smartphone market in 2012

IDC for its part, stresses that the second quarter, the historic partners of Android are those who have the most advanced in the smartphone market. Sales of HTC devices and Samsung respectively have indeed jumped 129% and 173%.

Finally, the icing on the cake, iSuppli estimated in a study at this rate, Android exceed the iPhone in two years, a prospect quite logical considering the number of models on the market.

According to the firm, Android could eventually represent 19.4% of smartphone market by 2012 with 75 million users, against 2.7% in 2009. To date, Apple will total 15.9% of the market with 62 million people equipped, against 13.8% in 2009.

For iSuppli, the up market Android explains the rise: “Initially intended for entry-level Android has changed and it offers flexibility in design and its attractive business model has attracted the interest of the entire value chain including manufacturers of high-end smartphones, “said Tina Teng, an analyst at iSuppli.

In 2012, Android will become the global platform number two, behind Symbian (Nokia). An adoption at the speed of light that many experts did not see coming.

We all know we can’t live with out your Tv sets. But our other devices don’t get such great devotion, although they are a big part of our daily lives. They make the meals we eat, clean our clothes, and also wash our dishes. And once one breaks down, it is a huge inconvenience.
