Can smartphones replace laptops?

Perhаps you’ve seen the commerciаl where the businessmаn uses his smаrtphone to work while riding the bus. It seems too good to be true, but the reаlity is, smаrtphones offer much more thаn you might reаlize.

Recently, the rаpid rise in populаrity of smаrtphones hаs led to the lаptop being chаllenged аs the best mobile computing solution for consumers. аt the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Lаs Vegаs, Motorolа demonstrаted just how close the smаrtphone is to replаcing the lаptop аltogether. With the unveiling of the Motorolа аtrix 4G smаrtphone, the potentiаl of future smаrtphones dominаting the mobile computing mаrket wаs shown.

а recent model smаrtphone could eаsily serve аs а do-it-аll device for short jаunts or even overnight stаys аwаy from the office. You could both reаd аnd respond to e-mаil, use instаnt messenger progrаms, view аnd (sort of) edit Word аnd Excel documents, browse the Web аnd keep trаck of аll your PIM dаtа. This is pretty much everything you need to stаy connected, аlong with the obvious аbility to mаke аnd receive cаlls.

The iPhone hаs tаken the world by storm. No longer does а phone just cаll аnd text. Smаrtphones hаve been аround for а long time, but they were аlwаys а bit nerdy аnd business oriented. The iPhone brought coolness to instаlling аpps on your smаrtphone.

These technologies hаve drаmаticаlly reshаped cultures аnd societies аcross the plаnet. аll of it hаppened in less thаn five yeаrs. For people clinging to the PC’s importаnce, look аround you аt the rаpid cloud services-driven sociаl networking chаnges. The PC could eаsily be displаced thаt fаst.

On the downside, processing speed is usuаlly, slow аnd clients will struggle with the smаll keypаds. Entering text is slow аnd prone to errors, аlthough clients cаn purchаse portаble keyboаrds аnd displаy units. In аddition, the cost of а smаrtphone begins to аdd up when you stаrt purchаsing аpplicаtions, subscriptions, аnd portаble tаg-аlongs.

The Birth of the Blackberry

Research in Motion is a Canadian technology and communications company that has always been innovative in the design of communications devices, the most famous of which is the Blackberry line of mobile phones. Here we will take a brief look at the history of the Blackberry and see how this has led to the latest Blackberry Smartphone, the Blackberry Torch.

The original Blackberry device was the 850 which was launched in 1999. This was in fact a two-way pager. Their first Smartphone was introduced in 2002, and was simply known as the BlackBerry, phones4u became the 1st retailler to stock this outside of blackberrys official online stores. This was targeted on the business world and quickly became a must have for every smart young business executive. It was very much a device for keeping in touch with the office when on the move and had a very advanced push email system.

BlackBerry phones are able to be integrated with the e-mail system of the user’s company. This is achieved via the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). And this can be run on the company’s network allowing all employees on the move to keep in touch with their colleagues through just as if they were sitting at their desks. For smaller companies not owning their own servers, similar services are available through external providers and through the RIM Network Operations Centre.

For individuals (rather than companies) there is the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) which also provides email integration allowing users to access many email accounts simultaneously and operates throughout much of the world.

It is not difficult to see why Blackberry phones became so popular with business users; however other competing technologies such as the iPhone began to appear on the scene. Although these could not quite match the email capabilities of Blackberry they were getting close and were attracting corporate users. In response Blackberry took the decision to focus on the individual user rather than just the corporate, and as a consequence launched a new range of phones that combined the technologies for which Blackberry is famous will many of the newer smartphone technologies.

An example of this latest generation of Blackberry phones is the Blackberry Torch. This has a physical slide-out keyboard along with a 3.2 inch touch-screen display with many advanced features and soon became one of the market leaders.

HTC touch pro 2 price

htc touch pro2Looking at the Touch, there is no doubt that HTC is clearly the general public. With a very attractive design, a smaller footprint and a truly innovative interface, it boasts many features that are biased to multimedia.

Design and ergonomics

When off, the HTC Touch looks like a conventional PDA except that it is very compact and fine. Its design is particularly successful and we must admit that this is one of the most attractive smartphones we have ever seen. The finish is excellent and the soft touch black hull is much more pleasant to the touch than the usual plastic. The rounded promote ownership and the Touch fits naturally into the palm of your palm.

However, the Touch lacks a keyboard. This poses no problem to call through the large touch screen and new touch interface called TouchFLO, which is both pretty and practical. Enter a number from the tip of the thumb is easy and 3D animation allows quick access to contacts, applications and media that appear on the faces of a virtual cube. By dragging your finger up and down it shows the interface. Rest then repeat the operation from left to right to rotate the cube in the blink of an eye. Thus, the Touch is unquestionably one of the most convenient smartphone for telephony. By cons, things get trickier to write text with Windows Mobile 6 and its usual input options stylus that are less convenient than a real keypad. It is a pity that the Touch is equipped with instant messaging software Windows Live Messenger. Converse with the caller to the pen requires a good dose of courage, unless you master the handwriting recognition. Finally the processor is sometimes sentences when many applications are open but the overall Touch is swift enough.

The HTC Touch screen occupies most of the front. It has good anti-reflective but the pixels are visible on the picture test. The touchpad responds well to the slightest touch of a finger or stylus.

HTC Desire test and review

Following the purchase of HTC Desire, I decided to share my experience with this mobile phone outside the norm. With this model we find the power of models with a HTC Android Flash 2.1 features interface HTC Sense.

With the advent of mobile Internet connections, and the ubiquity of mobile tactile one reaches a result completely in tune with the times with this HTC Desire.

Otherwise as you say that I felt in real change, I previously had a Qtek 9100. I know it’s old, but I waited for the HTC HD2, then fall back to a HTC Android in this case the Nexus One, and by dint of waiting, I finally fell for the HTC Desire.

I just checked  the simplest method to unlock Desire HTC. I implemented tips on several smartphone websites  to come across  HTC Desire  could lock up and need to be reset to manufacturer configurations to restore it.

Unpacking Package and accessories.

HTC Desire is provided in a cardboard package very clean and well presented as all HTC products.

In terms of accessories include:

* A micro SD card 4 GB
* A 220V charger with USB socket
* A USB cable for charging and computer connection
* A headset with ear monitoring body

We regret it lacks a protective cover often provided with previous HTC models and there is only one connection cable with dual-use USB charger and PC connection.

Android Apple will double in 2012 according to iSuppli

The good news is piling up for the Google platform to multiply the positive indicators. Apple had better watch out!

Android’s success is undeniable. The appetite for Google’s platform combined with a number of increasingly large references gives wings to the sales figures and market share of the OS.

On Wednesday, Eric Schmidt, Google’s boss, had indicated that 200,000 Android devices are activated each day, a figure that has doubled in the space of three months.

Earlier in the week, explained Android accounted for 34% of sales in the U.S. in the second quarter, ranking ahead of all its competitors. Globally, its market share (installed base) would be about 13%.

20% of smartphone market in 2012

IDC for its part, stresses that the second quarter, the historic partners of Android are those who have the most advanced in the smartphone market. Sales of HTC devices and Samsung respectively have indeed jumped 129% and 173%.

Finally, the icing on the cake, iSuppli estimated in a study at this rate, Android exceed the iPhone in two years, a prospect quite logical considering the number of models on the market.

According to the firm, Android could eventually represent 19.4% of smartphone market by 2012 with 75 million users, against 2.7% in 2009. To date, Apple will total 15.9% of the market with 62 million people equipped, against 13.8% in 2009.

For iSuppli, the up market Android explains the rise: “Initially intended for entry-level Android has changed and it offers flexibility in design and its attractive business model has attracted the interest of the entire value chain including manufacturers of high-end smartphones, “said Tina Teng, an analyst at iSuppli.

In 2012, Android will become the global platform number two, behind Symbian (Nokia). An adoption at the speed of light that many experts did not see coming.
